Any chance of getting component on a set-top box fiber optic decoder?

A brand new fiber optic network service is being offered in my community. It provides telephone, internet, and cable TV all in one. For the TV decoder, they supply the RCA/Thompson set-top box with ethernet connection Model ATLIP900. This has composet and s-video outputs. I've checked their website and apparently they don't offer any models with component output. Since the more common satelite or cable decoders offer component, is there a fiber optic didgital decoder manufactured with component connections that would work in place of the model I have? If not, and because most new TVs come with component, why don't they have component connections on this type of set-top box decoders?

Sounds like your getting HD service through your cable company now since usually only HD receivers have component outs. Does the company running the fiber plan to offer HD service or would you be better off sticking with your cable company for service? If they don't have a ethernet enabled STB that has component outs, it sure sounds like they are only offering SD service for now.

On a side note, the fiber optic set up they are offering terminates at the entry point into your house and switches over to ethernet and copper based cabling at that point, you technically need a box that can transmit video via ethernet, not fiber optic... it just needs to be able to work with their service also.
Yes , you are correct. The network does not offer high definition yet but they tell me that high definition may be comiing in about three months. I can't imagine that they will upgrade the set-top boxes with componet out at that time so I guess I'll be stuck with composite or s-video regardless.

Even though it's not HD, the picture looks quite nice shown through my projector. I can only think that it would improve with component even though it's not high definition at this point.
