Any differeance between a MCE 2004 and MCE 2005 remotes?

I am using 2005 as my first experience with MCE, so I can't tell you what the differences are. BUT, I can tell you that the 2005 version does not work with my RCA IR->RF Remote extender (to reach the HTPC in the basement). People claim that the 2004 version did. So it must be using a different IR frequency.


Others have claimed that the 2004 remote will still work with 2005.

Sorry I don't all of the details but the remotes are different. I believe the new one has a TV power button.

The biggest complaint I've heard is they took away the "MY" buttons on the 2k5 remote. Now you have to drill through menus to get to your pictures, movies, music, etc....


But the greatest advantage of the new remote is that it supports learning where the old one didn't. So you can use it to control the volume/power on your TV... very helpful in minimizing the shuffling between two remotes to control playback/transport functions and volume.
