I don't have the HD DVE disc but use DVE and before that VE religiously.


Since both the HD and upscaled SD are typically delivered to the same TV input, I'm wondering if people see a difference between the optimal SD "brightness" (blacklevel) calibration VS the same for HD. Any observations? (My visual guesstimate observation is they are aproximately identical.)

PS. My player is a G1 -- don't know that that makes any difference though.

No difference in brightness between the HD and SD sides of DVE on my XA2.

No difference from SD DVE (my old disc) and the new HD DVE. Contrast and brightness were no different between both discs.

I've been trying the HD with small adjustments, but since my overall impressions keep driving be back to my SD settings, I was expecting that to be the case. Thanks for taking the time

Sometimes yes ... sometimes no ... YMMV ...


80% of the sets I calibrate need a specific setting for each.
