They are all comparable since they all manufacture speakers across all price points. Pioneer however, I've noticed, is often severely discounted online. A few years ago they had PRS series 6.5" that are the greatest bang for you buck that you can buy for around $275.
I tried of find qualities of the PRS and see if any of it is available in their lower end components and couldn't pass up a heavily discounted $70 pair from buy.com. I tossed aside the passive xover and ran it active and couldn't be happier. It sounded great in normal to lower volumes, but unfortunately I have to turn it loud and the tweeter gets shrill, but the important part for me, the accuracy of the mid-range at the price kept it in my doors. Eventually I will replace the tweeters with PRS versions as soon as it pops up on ebay at a cheap price.
