Since it lacks inputs, I would like to be able to run everything via component even though it may be input as S-Video, so I can just use the VGA Progressive connector. Optical inputs would also be a bonus.

Dont be fooled by the Svid jack on the x1, it has three extra pins for true component input, with use of their adapter.


Sony makes a receiver that will upconvert composite/svid to component. Denon makes one also. The catch is they are 1k or so. you can get one that coverts composite to svid for less $.

Kenwood has a THX certified receiver that converts any analog video input to component video. It is the VR-5090 and is only $750.
