Any help on a remote

Does anyone know of a good replacement remote for:

Sharp Aquos 37" LCD HDTV model #LC37D4U?

I bought it open box and it came with a generic sharp remote that does not

have about half the functions the TV is capable of.

I have a few options:

1-buy from a questionable online store for the exact replacement. (+75)

2-buy an expensive harmony remote for (+150)

3-use the generic and hate every bit of it...

Does anyone know if the other Sharp Aquos LCD remotes work with my model?

Get a Harmony 880! Look around online for one, they can be had for around 150.00. Otherwise they are 249.00 retail.

There are a lot of variations among Sharp remotes so you should get the exact one that came with the unit. I bought a small 20" Sharp open box special a few years ago and the remote they gave me was wrong, so i went back to the store and they showed me some other Sharp remotes they had in the back but they all had slightly different buttons (some missing the all-important MENU button). We couldn't find one that was 100% compatible so i found the model number of the original remote, went back to the store, and they ordered me a brand new one from Sharp's parts department and UPS'd it to my house. You should insist the store do the same thing for you. Otherwise, sometimes there are Sharp remotes on EBay and you might come across the exact one you need. You really should find the model number of the original though. Mine was listed in the owners manual.

I would also recommend a Harmony, although the 880 may be more remote than you need depending on your setup. Harmony recently introduced the 520, which is much more reasonably priced.

Go with the "One For All" model 8910. You can get it on-line with a JP1 adapter for your computer and program it to do just about anything. It will set you back less than $41.00 delivered.
