This is getting pretty ridiculous. After tomorrow (The Sting, Clerks II et al) the HD DVD slate is pretty sparse. Frankly, I may have to scale back on the 2 HD DVDs per month diet I'm on due to lack of titles.

I HATE to admit this, but as someone who has both formats, but prefers HD DVD, I have bought ONE HD DVD in the past two months and about 12 Blu Ray.

Kinda' sucks...

I am DYING for new HD DVD content.

Are they not trying to sell HD DVD?

Are they waiting for more players?

Do they wanna give into BD for lack of content?

A handful of those promised 300 titles would work wonders for HD DVD right about now. I guess the marketing strategy of late is to completely cut off the HD DVD supply from their loyal customer base, just to see how many of us will remain fathful. Yeah, that must be it.

After CES, it's pretty clear that you need to get a Blu-ray player if you want your fill of HD in 2007.

There's a live chat with Kevin Collins over at The Home Theater Forum tonight. 8pm ET. Less than two hours from now. So, instead of worrying about any lack of titles being announced, think about some question you'd really want answered and log in to the chat.

I don't understand the panic lately. The Consumer ELECTRONICS Show brought to light some new hardware coming to the HDDVD side which is what the show is about. They may have missed a marketing opportunity by not going nuts with an upcoming release list like BD did, but why does that matter? If they announced the titles, would they show up faster? Does J6P even know about the CES? They're the ones who are going to make this format succeed or fail.

All I'm trying to say is relax. We've all known for a long time now that this format war isn't going to end quickly. Sorry to jump off-topic.

New Line, please hurry and release Snakes on a Plane, so I can have a Snakes on a Mutha F-ing Plane Night in HD.

I would imagine as soon as total HD is available New Line will start to bring their movies onto the hd movie market.

Announcing new players is great. However, new players do not address the present lack of titles. Even if we take CES out of the equation, how is having precious few new releases a positive thing? I am all for taking the high road and not grandstanding like the BD Group clearly did with their umpteen announcements, however, the one thing that HD had going (besides great PQ) for it was a healthy and steady supply of titles since launch. Now, new HD titles are like some endangered species. Of the 300 promised titles, what would be the harm in releasing a few, say, in January? All I know is if they don't do something soon, there may not be anyone left to buy those 300 titles to play on those cheap new players coming from China.

I'm with you, milit.

To hell with patience...what's that all about? I'm still left wanting all those '06 titles that were dangled in front of us like so many carrots.

It's as if the Chiefs of HD, have fallen asleep at the wheel.

For those of us born without the capacity to be patient, I think you're right. I just got a PS3 strictly for some extra high-def content.

Right milit, give us some movies. At least 50 of those 300 then they can have time to do what ever it is the do.

Thats what I am going to do as soon as I find a good deal on a ps3.I don't see what the hold up is with the releases. We hear how easy the hd dvd's are to make and how little it cost so what is the hold up.I went through the list on best buy last night. There were a lot of blu ray titles that I would like to own but I can't say the same for hd dvd which I would mostly just rent.

Honey, can we get this HD player? It'll play the Lion King and Cars!" (as the parent picks up a few bloody action flicks and HD porn). That's a feature you can't get watching King Kong on the PS3!

I like that. The sad thing is I think thats what hd dvd is becoming blood and porn.I think not having a good selection of family movies is really gone to hurt them.I think blu ray has a big advantage here.

Yup, now all BD has to do, is put out some movies I actually want to watch, and sell a reasonably priced stand alone player that at least equals my A1.
