I think this year's models were all announced as sticking with HDMI 1.2, so it looks like you'll have to wait till next year.

First signs of Yamaha's new flagship are popping up on the net. A greek audio/video magazine has an article (and pictures!) of Sony's Pearl successor (called VPL-VW60 or "Amethyst"). It also mentions the "Yamaha DSP-Z11" on the cover.

If the 1.3 connectors will not fall out as easily as my 1.1 connector does, I would call this an advancement!
Has anyone figured out why we need 1.3? All the neat stuff does not exist yet so please send me your old stinky 1.2 equipment

You know, I say this same thing to myself all the time, but that doesn't stop me from salivating over the upcoming Onkyo and Pioneer lines...and I don't even plan on buying a hi-def player for at least a couple years! If anything, my speakers should be next on the upgrade block, but there's just something alluring about shiny new electronics even if you would have no immediate use for them.
