I know someone interested in purchasing my Sony 10HT for about 800 less than what a HS20 will cost me. It seems like a no brainer, especially since the HS20 and it's bulb will be brand new. Any reason not to jump on it? My viewng is only HDTV and HTPC via VGA or DVI.

You are the one that PM'ed me. I can't think of ANY reason not to jump up to the HS20. I have made the same upgrade and love my new HS20. The only "issue" would be throw distance. The HS20 is a "mid throw" projector and would need to be set back farther from the screen than the 10HT. In some instances you wouldn't have to move it at all.

Other than the throw, are you able to use the same ceiling mount with the HS20? I'm trying to figure out if I should sell my 10HT mount (not Sony brand) - I'll keep it if the HS20 takes the same mount

No, the ceiling mount isn't the same. Maybe I should quantify that - I've got a Chief mount and the part that mounts to the ceiling (part # RPA-020) can be the same, but the plate that mounts to the underside of the projector (and which subsequently holds the projector to the ceiling mount) is different (and relatively kinda spendy).

In any case the upgrade is definitely worth it. You won't believe how anemic the blacks on the 10HT look after you've fired up your HS20! Not to mention scaling 1:1 is possible on the HS20 where it wasn't on the 10HT. HD looked good on the 10HT but gorgeous on the HS20! Just do it! You won't regret it!:D

Thanks - I have the Chief mount too and was trying to figure out if I need to sell it with my projector. Was it cheaper to buy a new mount for the HS20 than the adapter plate for the RPA-020? I can probably get $75 for my RPA-020

If I remember correctly it was around $120 for just the adapter plate (I'll dig out the invoice tonight when I get home). Jason Turk here at AVS arranged the whole thing for me - excellent service! I had originally been told that the 10HT hardware would work only to find it didn't. Jason had me up and running within a day (and I'm on the West Coast!).

Pretty sure it will be cheaper for you to get just the adapter plate rather than the whole shebang... Unless you can get the package for under $200.
