At CES this year Denon was showing their successor to the 5700. This had me drooling. It had built-in EX decoding; more watts per channel than my neighbors could live with; and more plugs in the back than I could ever use. Naturally I want one.


Anyone know when it will arrive? Denon said "later this year" at CES.

Go look at the Denon web site www.del.denon.com.

They've moved the 5700 to discontinued and indicate the the 5800 will be available July/August.


Question: I've heard that the 5700 video inputs can't handle a HDTV bit stream due to insufficient bandwidth. If this is correct, does anyone know if the 5800 will handle HDTV via the video switching ports?

Actually, I have a friend who is using a 5700 to switch between 1080i from a DTC-100 and 480p from a Toshiba SSD5109. It works great, with no apparent signal degradation.
