I have with a very low uneven basement ceiling, due to the fact there used to be a conversation pit in the room above. The lowest point is about 90”. I’m going to do a suspended drywall ceiling grid so I can get it level and as flush as possible to the uneven ceiling above and would like to mount my ceiling directly to that.
I’d like to do a 10’ by 10 ’star ceiling with a very narrow drywall bulkhead around it. I’d like to do ½ plywood ceiling covered in velvet but am struggling with how to mount it to the drywall ceiling grid. I could just screw it up in the middle and cover the holes with patches afterwards. any other thoughts?
