I just picked up the Philliips D50Q for the Faroudja chip but after reading the thread detailing all its problems I think I'll be returning the unit.

So how's the Toshiba 9200 vs. Denon 2800 vs (your pick)? I'm buying this for my brother in law so I'd like a unit with progressive scan and all around good performer. Don't want him thinking that I skimped on his house warming gift.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Hi.

I have the SD-900E, european version of the SD-9200. It is a very good unit.

Video side is the best I have seen until now. Compared to my previous DVD, Pioneer 717, it is a big improvement for color, sharpness and 3D image.

Audio side is great: HDCD decoding and a very good DAC section, with selected audiphile components, make the unit a very good CD player. DVD audio sound as goods as SACD on my Sony SCD-XA333ES.

Progressive Scan: the Toshiba output 480p in NTSC, but for PAL it converts PAL to PAL60, so it outputs still 480p and not 576p.

Remember that Integra Research RDV-1 is the same unit and costs twice.
