any tips to make the multi-player fun? this is my take on it:

spawn

find a gun

find a car

find a person, die, or

find a person, kill them, then die

repeat

one thing i wish they had are weapons classes. this finding a gun crap after every death is really slowing it down too much, imo.

anyways, i'm sure there are some people that still play this online, so any tips would be appreciated. it just seems like a waste to leave this game on the shelf. btw, i haven't played this game in over a month.

edit:

i think what is really killing me are the ridiculous spawn points. i always get spawned like half an island away from where the action is. maybe the fast pace of cod has spoiled me.

It is because everyone is a one man army... Rambo - anyway, you might have fun playing with a team that knows whats up and how to play with some sense.

Strategy and seriousness... Aka why would there be a big ass city if everything is done in just one place?

I don't have the game but can't you do things like have your buddy pick you up in a helicopter except before he touches down you blast him with an RPG. That sounds really fun, and really funny at the same time.

Yeah its loads of fun, once we got blown out of air, and all landed in the water... Luckily a civilian in a boat approached, only to end up getting kicked off and his boat jacked. Latter that same game, we ambushed a big team by using the actual ambulance.

well, no one uses a mic it seems so the team aspect is totally lost.

btw, i'll never get how you can drop 400 on a system yet not afford a 20 dollar mic. resistance will be ruined because no one will have a mic. 60 player chaos is how i see it going down.

Its like a ant fight... That is why i stopped playing even the strategic shooters like GRAW2, since its just a big ass **ck fight... No team planing at all... Even COD4. However I do have a same team that games online also, its good not the best, but sure plays team like.

Everyone has a purpose. From Snipers with Claymores, to back up SAWs, close quarter combat with Mp5/P90/Shotgun... And then we have the heavy guys with RPGS and such.

Its pretty much a kick ass fight then. MGS4 needs to be played like that also.

Edit: Burnout is so much better with online comunication.

I think GTA4 online is suffering from the fact that it does not have many people that "play together"

Like any game, it's loads more fun when you play with a bunch of friends together and work as a team.

It's fun watching what some friends do as they drive around and take people out. You can tell who sucks in the group too especially with driving because when you all spawn and you jump in a vehicle, the group will always ask who's driving and when you know that the person that's driving sucks, you'll see everyone jump out of the car at the same time. It's funny to see stuff like that happening.

But, like I said, the more friends you play with, the more fun the game is.

Here's how I set up the games that I host:

Rocket Launchers only

1 second respawn

Respawn distance set to CLOSE

Daytime

Clear skies

1 Island only

Check it out!

MP on this game is really only fun if you're playing with friends. That's the key. Otherwise, MP totally sucks in this game.

It was a poor design choice on R*'s part. MP shouldn't depend on playing only with friends. It should just be better with friends.

The OP doesn't sound like he's really explored the MP options. I usually enjoy myself even when playing with strangers.

You do realize that there are game modes where you are expected to cooperate, right?

Or play the race modes, those are always a blast for me. Especially the "Cannonball Run" style of GTA race.

If you don't like where you spawn in deathmatches, host your own and set the spawn point to be "near". I don't know what you mean by "find a gun". You start off with a gun, and it's quite capable of killing someone with superior firepower if you know what you're doing.

All that being said, it is more fun to play with a group of people who you know, and all have headsets.

^^^i didn't know you could change spawn points. lol.

here is how rockstar screwed up- they totally failed to use their own created asset, the weapon guy. there should be guys parked in alleys with guns in their vehicle that you can pick up. one stop shopping would really fix this game, imo. however, they would have to limit the guns you can carry by way of classes. example- sniper rifle means you can't also carry an assault rifle.

You can also change the weapon types allowed, just as you said.

The problem with the weapon guys would be that snipers could camp nearby and take out anyone looking for weapons.

Try hanging in for a few rounds. You'll likely end up being the host, and you can experiment with all the different parameters. There's a lot of flexibility that a lot of hosts just skip over.
