Any Value left in old CRT RPTV's ???

I just bought a samsung HL-R5678, being delivered tomorrow from Tweeter (sad but true, largely driven by my new Xbox 360 [man MCE/MCX stinks compared to XBMC])

Anyway, I have a very good Pioneer Elite Pro-119 (big 'ol monster RPCRT TV, (man I have loved that set), and the wife wants to sell it to her best friend, but I want to give it to her (never sell to friends, IMHO).

So being realistic what's a thing like this still worth (100/200 max)?

P.S. Don't get me wrong on pioeer elite. All of my audio/DVD is still pioneer elite, but unless you're into 10G for plasma they have no display optionns anymore (Pioneer, you should jump into high-end DLP).

I don't know anything about this set in particular, but I have a few questions:

1) does this have 7 or 9 inch guns?

2) How old is it?

3) What did it retail for?

4) Is there anything wrong with it?

9 inch guns. Retailed for ~$6K.

Nothing wrong with it. SD only (funky "cinema wide" aspect ratio halfway between 4:3 and 16:9).

I just got tired of the cleaning the optics (every 1.5 yrs) andit was time to step into HD.
If someone offers to move it out of your house, consider it a REALLY good deal. :)
not really. I looked into this myself. You would be better off giving it to charity and taking the tax credit. You can get more credit for it then probably could sell it for

I'd just donate it to your friend. I agree with you about the dangers of selling to family/friends. Plus, being a non-HD set, it's value is limited.
There is really not a problem selling to family/friends.

Just offer a "satisfaction or your mony back" guarantee.
I also have a 73" Diamondvision 6 years old that's not HD. Nothing wrong with it, great picture and all, but nobody wants it. "Oh, it's not HD" is all i hear. "I'm just giving you a Big screen for nothing and you're picky too" It's to bad for our old RPTV's.
Maybe a local Sports bar would be interested. They probably aren't willing to pay cash but perhaps you could negoiate free beer and chicken wings for you and some friends.
OK, I'm just giving it to my friends.

Hopefully, it'll come out of the basement without needing to be cut up (It was put in the basement theater during construction).

Loving the HL-R5678BTW, really good picture in HD, streaming 720P via Media Center, and with the XBox 360.
