[Negative 1]

I notice this in alot of scenes in movies, some backgrounds look very pixelated. Now if I turn the saturation all the way up on the DVD player it's gone, but then movie looks like crap.


I took this pic with the red background to show what I'm talking about. Is there any way to eliminate this?

That picture looks like red blotchy macroblocking caused by either the player, a bad DVD transfer, or the display. Try calibrating your TV with a disc like DVE, and also try changing the output format on the DVD player. Try them all and see if one looks better (480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p). If you still can't get rid of it, borrow a non-Faroudja DVD player such as the Oppo 970 from a friend and try it. You can search this forum for many posts discussing macroblocking in great detail.
