I FINALLY was able to get an HDMI box from my provider, and it might just be me but I feel like the picture was better over component. Seems like the HDMI picture is a little more "fuzzy" or pixelated. Anyone else experience this?

TV is a Samsung LNS4051D

Many people find that component provides for a better picture than HDMI. It depends on your HDTV and your source. If component gives you visibly the best PQ...then stay with it.

It is a newbie error (along with 1080p>1080i) that HDMI always provides the best PQ. Best Buy workers with IQ's of 50 are fond of repeating these myths.

I see. I hooked up component and HDMI to my box but it wont let me bounce backand forth to compare when they are both hooked up.

On a side note, which is supposedly better, 720p or 1080i?

Largely dependent on the source and TV. 720p is generally said to be better for fast motion sporting events. 1080i is generally perceived to be a tad sharper and is great for shows like Jay Leno.

Real world examples include the NFL Playoffs on NBC and Fox. Fox uses 720p and their games typically show less crowd pixelation (sometimes referred to as mpeg artifacting) during fast pans compared to NBC. NBC broadcasts in 1080i and their static images (think booth shots of Al Michaels and John Madden) appear slighter sharper than on Fox.
