rhettje,

I bet I know the speakers you have seen. There is a site something like "Sell for less" that is on E-Bay and Overstock which is selling a pr. of small tower speakers for about $100 shipped. They have dual 6.5" woofers, etc. I am sure they are not top-notch but they may be better than KLH, etc.

The ones I've see was a 42 inch high floor stander. I've also seen the small towers your talking about. But its not it. I'm planning to driving them with a XR-50 or a Ken 7100. I'm still on a speaker budget. I also thought of purchasing tykes but I'll miss the mid bass I used to have on a Vandersteen (sold them 5 years ago). I'm also thinking of just buying the HTD level 3 b-stock and a Panny SA-XR50. But I wonder if the Panny can handle the Pyle or the HTD Level 3's.

E-Bay, U-bid, and a few other sites are also selling Acoustic Research towers for about $150 shipped. Think they are the AR SA-40(?).

Also, I have the Panny SA-XR50. My set-up is JBL EC35 center (rated at 150 watts), S38II's for mains(rated at 175 watts), N26's for surrounds, and dual N24's wired in series for the surround back. I also used a Yamaha HTR-5590 and a Pioneer Elite VSX-41 to drive the same set-up. I tried the former receivers for about 2 months each. The Panny (XR45) has been measured at 82 real watts per channel with 5 channels driven through Sound and Vision Mag. The Yammy measured at 38 watts per channel with 5 channels driven...

You won't have to worry about power with the Panny for the speakers you are considering.
