Am I the only one who likes downloadable games on the PS3 better than the ones on the shelf at the store?

I spend most of my time playing Fat Princess and now Braid while Little Big Planet and Devil May Cry are sitting on the shelf. I'm considering getting the Capcom downloadable games now that they're on sale, too. I love Puzzle Fighter. Anybody else prefer games you can pick up and play? That was my favorite part about Shadow of the Colossus.

Ok I'm done rambling.

Yeah, I could almost agree with that. I absolutely love Wipeout HD and Super Stardust HD, even if they are pretty old hat by now. In fact, I've considered buying a cheap broken PS3 (disk drive doesn't work), just for this very reason. I could still play PSN games on it, and stream my movies and TV shows to it via PS3 Media Server.

I confess, I've never downloaded anything from PSN (other than free stuff like demos and trailers) but I use the PS3 for movies first, then full featured games.

I use the PSP for games I can pick up and put down in 5 minutes.

There are a whole host of fantastic PSN titles. To me, disc-based games and PSN titles satisfy two very different gaming needs- the quick fix and the gaming marathon session. Waiting on the wife to finish getting ready before going out for drinks? Critter Crunch! Have some free time while the wife is at the mall? Fallout 3!

Yes. Pixel Junk Shooter might be my favorite PS3 game.

I am looking forward to Heavy Rain, though. Still, I won't buy it until the price drops. I'd rather have 6 $10 PSN games than one $60 BD game.

I agree with Toad and Tyrant as well. But when I got my PS3 about a year and a half ago I mostly played PSN titles for the first couple months. I used to play a bunch of PixelJunk Eden, Wipeout, Tekken, GT, old school games and some others. Now, I mostly play disc-based games as so many great ones have come out in the past year. My PSN gaming is mostly just demos these days.

I've found a lot of PSN games to be limited in content for the money, especially now that some very good disc games are hitting the bargain bin for $20 or less. I just bought Trine on sale for $10, which is an incredible deal and a great game!, but at $20, there are some sale priced disc games I'd much rather have. I agree though, the PSN games definitely have their place when you have 10-20 mins to kill... and keep the sales and freebees coming! In the past three months I've picked up Trine, Critter Crunch, Flower, and flOw for $18.50 total for all! Would've never paid full price for any of them.

There have been plenty of times when my PS3 is used for only movies and PSN titles. The first few months I owned it all I played was Super Stardust HD and Everyday Shooter.

Yeah but I play Fat Princess for HOURS. I can finish a round of Devil May Cry 4 in 20-30 minutes but I cannot put down Fat Princess that easily

No offense but...

I think it has a lot to do with peoples age when it comes to this subject.I think the older males (35 and older) the PSN games appeal to them more. Especially since there are a lot of people here on AVS and just casual people who bought the PS3 for strictly playing Blu-Ray movies.

I think people are saying they like PSN games better because of bang for buck. I don't anyone he can make a serious arguement that the top 5 PSN games are better than the top 5 PS3 games purely on merits of the games themselves.

Which is silly to say since PSN games ARE PS3 games, but w/e.

Not just that, but a lot of us have limited free time these days. We might like to devote more time to gaming and play through all of Dragon Age or Demon's Souls, but not all of us can afford to take more than 30 mins or an hour out of our days for gaming. PSN provides a great alternative.
