I have a panasonic showstopper that I upgraded with a 120 gig HD that I want to move over to a ReplayTV 5040, that I will upgrade.

Any suggestions?

There isn't an easy way to do this. Your best bets are:

1) Watch the shows and then format and patch the drive with a 5K image.

2) Put output (SS) to input (5K) and move the shows over one by one manually. IF you have more than 40 gig of shows, move the shows over to a PC using DVArchive. Format and patch the dive with a 5K image.

Sorry...

Another process:

1) Start recording and watching new shows on 5040.

2) Continue watching old shows from Showstopper, but don't do new recording.

3) When the Showstopper is empty, it is time to swap drives.

At this point you could either:

1) Transfer 5040 shows to PC/Mac over network, swap the 40G for the 120G, then transfer shows back onto the 5040 (now 5120).

2) Add the 120G as a second drive to the 5040 (now 5160).

Or:

Extract the files from the Showstopper with Extract_rtv. Convert them to 5xxx format with rtvconvert. Import them into DVArchive. Stream.
