I'm finishing up my screen wall and might anybody have 4yds extra of black GOM material they'd be willing to sell?

I've got no problem going to silentsource, etc. but thought I'd ask here first.

What is a yard of material? 9 sq ft? Probably a lame question....

I'm not a fabric or craft expert, but usually when speaking of a "yard" or "by the yard" its a running yard of material by its natural width. In the case of GOM its a piece 3' (yard) by its width of about 66".

Yes, fabric is sold by the linear yard. The width varies from fabric to fabric, but GOM is 66".

Female chiming in -


the linear yard (36") is correct - the width of 66" is also correct - when you are used to 54" home dec fabric, this is great because you effectively have more fabric per yard.
