did you have a question or just look for moral support? ;-)~

@LTD02 Haha you know that if I had a question you'd already have 4 or 5 PM's about it LOL

actually, I was under the impression these speakers were out of stock for a long time and that there was quite a backlog. They seemed to be relatively high demand and with him being back in stock I was surprised to not see any build threads on this particular speaker...

Nope the build are going pretty good. I'm going to test the second crossover now. The only thing I wish I could do is verify my crossovers are working somehow besides just listening to the different speakers for different frequencies which isn't very scientific...

The parts came in about 1.5 weeks ago and they just started shipping again. I'm sure you'll see some 1099 builds soon.
Thanks for checking in @Erich H This build is going great! I should have the crossovers complete tomorrow and then will mount them this weekend and dampen. In ref to damping, you still want me to use a handful of polyfil? Say one handful per section of speaker?

You will need a good amount more than that on the 1099's. I'll see if there are any pictures showing how much is needed.
Thanks!

I also have loose foam out the wazoo if that can work...

Is it open cell foam?

Put more in the mid chamber than the woofer chamber.
OK will do. Yes it is open cell.

For the price not opposed at all to use poly fil either. Will prob be less work as well.

Thanks Tux!

I should be starting soon, just waiting for them to ship. I was going to use the UltraTouch Denim for damping like some others have used unless you guys would advise different. As for the terminals is there a benefit to using speakon connectors vs the other terminal cups?

Not sure if there is a true advantage to using speakon connectors vs terminal cups. I plan on using speak on connectors to make it easier to connect wiring to. Also I believe the speakon connection is smaller compared to the terminal connections resulting in a smaller hole to drill out.

I've been completely slacking (though I can blame work a bit), I only just recently finished gluing 1 box together of 3, just ordered crossover kits from mtg90 on monday and ive had the 1099's since august... I did however get my dual uxl build from the groupbuy done before x-mas so at least thats something..

In a sense I envy your pace. I on the other hand find it difficult to pull back when I"m anxious for something. In the last month I've built (2) Volt 8 LX, (6) large subs and will be complete with (3) 1099's by weeks end lol

I have the same drive. I completed my first DIY build in Jan, a 15" sub. I have received the 1099 preorder and will be working on those soon. While waiting on a the preorder I ordered another sub. I also ordered and built a pair of Volt 6's. I am already thinking of what my next project will be once I am done with the 1099's and Sub.

I like them a lot. Certainly can get quite loud, and seem to reproduce sound accurately. With respect to the center, I sit pretty on axis to the center, so I don't think I'm losing too much sound quality there, but people to the left and right are probably missing out a bit. Been meaning to try to measure them to see how "well" I did with my build. I used Restore max/10x on these, and I wish I had read a bit more before going with that, as it is quite rough. It still looks nice, but I think I should have gone with 4x to get the more duratex looking finish. Will likely do 4x on the Marty's I'm currently building. It doesn't really matter for any of them since they'll all be hidden in the end though.

I ended up using a second speaker terminal post separate from where you tie your signal wires in to connect the limiter resistor. If I bridge those two terminals together, then that sets the limiter "on", or leaving it open is off. Figured that way I could test them both ways. Didn't want to deal with trying to find a switch that goes through 3/4" correctly and maintains a seal.

Right now I'm using a fancy iNuke box and travel books as my center channel stand, lol.

Great information here I appreciate this. Why the comment about sitting left to right and a problem with the center Channel SQ? Assume it's because of the horizontal orientation of the center, and not in reference to off axis SQ problem with the speakers?

That is an awesome idea in regards to the limiter. Not sure I fully understand how you wire this up can you explain this in more detail to me? To verify, this is in regards to the 10 ohm padding resistor correct? Any initial impressions in regards to which sound you prefer?

LoL on the fancy center speaker stand. I know the feeling I truly do... Boxes everywhere and chaos at the moment...

Two crossovers down and one to go! Pretty awful soldering skills but getting better from the 1st to the 2nd, gotta focus on the positives.

Enclosures coming along well! Missed a Nail in that one on the right that I have to pull haha
