I'm assuming this is the eskip but I received

90.7 WVAS...I know this because the RDS signal went that far

I also received kansas public radio 91.5

88.1 family life which is is either kansas, texas or wisconsin

91.3 mpb on rds. looks like npr out of mississippi

91.3 wjtg came in with rds data (macon georgia)

How far does rds travel?

Pretty much....

I listen to wbai's stuff sometimes on podcasts and there was a mini rant against NPR...which seems odd until they make a point that if the major media doesn't buy out a station it ends up being NPR....and there's hardly any difference between the stations...sad really.

Don't get me wrong I'm not mocking or saying the content is bad but if someone implies it should dominate everything from say 88.1 to 91.9 is just worng.

Earlier this week, there's been a HUGE tropospheric ducting and bending event. One of the biggest EVER! I live in Indianapolis and I was just South and West of the biggest ducts. I still got FM stations out to 200 or so miles, with just rabbit ears. Two Ontario DX'ers both had tropo of over 800 miles. That is huge! This distance is just under the average Summer Es (e-skip) openings and in some cases the 800 mile stations came in for over 24 hours!

This duct went from Western Arkansas, North to Kansas City, NE to near Milwaukee and then due East to Toronto. I have included some links to VHF DX'ing.

Current VHF prop maps (based upon automatic monioring of 144 MHz ham band beacons):

Tropospheric Forecast maps (out to 6 days). These are the works of DX'er and meterologist Bill Hepburn:

The WTFDA is mentioned there. They have an email list and a very helpful club:
