Coming soon... a big brother for the Maelstrom-18", the MAELSTROM-21"!!!! Like a subwoofer displacing almost 8L of air wasn't enough, we have went completely over the edge with this latest design. It uses the same motor as it's little brother utilizing the advanced inductance technology along with a full 66mm of peak-peak xmax. Total excursion capability exceeds 3" peak-peak and with the massive cone of a 21" driver, this new design delivers. Stay tuned for more information. Expected arrival date is late summer.

If the price was cheap, then yes. But I don't need it other than the WTF/WOW factor. I'd rather have 2, 15's that I could oppose fire, or more likely, co-locate.
I really like the M-18s. I believe they're around $400 while the M-21s will be around $600. I modeled some M-21s when the TSPs were first posted and they look just like the 18s besides slightly more output. Makes a lot of sense since its the same motor.
You guys are killing me. First, everyone was all excited for a 21" version and now that we have them coming out of the cooker, your saying that you don't want them.

Arg!

Let me say right now, that there is a big difference as you move up the food chain. Model all you want, it just doesn't show you all the differences. The 21" version of the Maelstrom is a BEAST. This thing is going to have output/distortion levels that exceed the LMS5400 at less than half the price and it will work in reasonable sized enclosures. No... it won't work in 3 cubic feet but it will work in the 5-10 cubic foot range depending on the amount of EQ you want to use and the Passive Radiator version is going to be the bomb in 8-9 cubic feet. It will simply be the highest output

Hey, I'm excited. I'll be buying two or four when they're available.

I am joking. Sometimes that doesn't come across on a forum post.

Hey as long as you keep making incredible drivers for the prices you sell them for, I'll keep buying them.

You live in KC right? Any plans on a midwest GTG if you buy the M-X 21's?

I am still thinking about it. Definitely interested. The actual price has not been quoted so I will hold on til I hear about that (and....you know, see them in stock). After seeing the newest specs on the gen2 Mal-X, I'm pretty interested in those too but I still have two SS RLp18's to add to my setup.

I've always wanted a sub with an XBL^2 motor but they were always OOP whenever I was in the market to buy a sub. Now I have four RLp18's....and I sure as hell don't want to let them go.

*sigh*

Recently, Ive been modeling all the subs I have (or would get) to Dan's EasyButton box sized down to 22" cube. Even the Mal-X 21 can fit in there, just a hair over .7 Qtc. Not bad. Ooof. Or two Mal-X 18's in that same box. Geeeezzz.

Kevin, you're a genius.

Ha. I'm just outside DC in virginia. I may see if there's interest in a DC area meet once I get my next 6 subs built.

Hmm...I mixed you up with someone else. There's a memeber on here with a couple LMS5400's and some other subs that lives in KC. I can drive to KC, but DC is much too far for me.

Didn't you say it was going to come in around $550 at one point Kevin?

Don't remember.... it is going to be more like $595 (just under the magic $600 mark).

The only way to get new product made, is to make money on the product I'm selling so the price definitely isn't going to be lower. I'm living at the poverty level as it is.

So the Maelstrom-X is 18", are you going to name the 21" the Maelstrom-Z?
When the time comes.... I be interested in buying Malx-18's from you guys at a good price....I am sure you would part with them to go the 21" route...

Could you possibly tell us the mounting depth of the 21" ?

Would it be the same like the 18" version?
I may just be looking pretty hard at the 21" drivers.... I was anticipating the newly updated LMS, but they won't be out for a while, and if they are only going to sell them through PE - I can only imagine that they will be overpriced IMO.

One could get 2 Mal-X 21's for the price of an 18" LMS... hmm that could get expensive.

I would either have to make new boxes, or modify my 3 x 24" cubes.... 6cuft net each...

66mm of peak to peak... whoa... Thats alot of output, which would more then fit my needs...

How long are we looking at for release Kevin....?

Ha... nope. The 'X' is a reference to e'X'odus.

I figure the 21" designation is enough to let people know there is a difference.
