Yes, I finally got my Comcast HD installed last night! :D What a glorious sight it was. HD programming finally in my house on my big tv. Unfortunately the idiot only brought one HD box when I clearly requested 2 (1 for the living room, 1 for the basement).

So, I got to watch a good chunk of the baseketball game last night. Looked great. I did notice however that Leno wasn't in widescreen and didn't have 5.1 surround for some reason. It was really weird. The show started with 5.1 and quickly lost it and it also jumped into widescreen at one piont and quickly lost that too. The remainder of the show was 4:3 and stereo. :( Hopefully it will be perfect tonight.

I'm really fortunate where I live because it seems we have very new Motorola boxes and they look nice and have all the bells and whistles. I even checked the DVI output thinking it wouldn't work and it did! :)

So, overall I was very happy with my first HD programming night. I can't wait for that HD baseball game on INHD tonight.

I didn't see Leno, so I can't say about being in HD last night, but they never do 5.1; it's always 2.0.

Well, it may not have been 5.1 but I did notice my reciever showed the blue light for a moment at the beginning of the show and I believe that indicates it's recieving a 5.1 signal. I could be wrong though. :)

I don't have a 100% understanding of my reciever just yet I guess. :D

Tigerriot,

Just so that are not suprised. Much of the HDTV programming on the networks will not be DD5.1. ABC has all of their stuff in DD5.1. FOX and CBS do their "live events" such as Sporting Event and the Grammys in DD5,1 but every thing else on them is only DD2.0. NBC, WB, UPN are all DD2.0 only.

Even HBO, Discovery HDTheater and such can have DD2.0 for one show, and DD5.1 for the next.

One more thing...

It's up to the local station to pass the 5.1 signal if there is one. Some might not have the needed equiptment to pass it and some could care less *coughWJLAcough*

I missed Leno last night deciding to watch Letterman with his TOP 10 LIST done by the Sopranos. A real Hoot (as they say).

I didn't watch Leno last night, but unless they are at a different set than the Burbank set, it should have been in 1080i HDTV. Usually when this gets messed up it is the local NBC affiliate messing up. I have to call my affiliate quite often and tell them they forgot to "hit the switch".

Thanks. I'll definitely have to check it out tonight and see if it's back to normal.

Tigerriot,

I got my first HD big screen Saturday. I don't have HD cable yet but watched Leno via the local Minneapolis antenna. Here it was in WS and looked absolutley great. In fact when he held up the mini credit card during the headlines segment, you could see his fingerprints and what looked like a callus. Maybe not what you want to see but interesting anyway.

WMAQ-DT last night showed Leno in SD, not HD (at least it was 4:3 not 16:9). Maybe the switch for SD to HD was broken, it's got a bit of use the past week or so having to go to SD mode to show the weather warning crawls on the bottom of the screen.
