I bought these on ebay via the Harman Audio store, but haven't received them yet. I could not find any reviews, so I figured I would take a chance on them. They seem to be a decent deal- $80 refurbished; they are a minimum of about $180 new anywhere else online (msrp is $329). From my experience buying the Infinity TSS-1200 satellite speakers from Harman via ebay, the refurbs are likely brand new merchandise (overstock perhaps?).

Here are the specs, and I attached a pic.
  • Frequency Response (±3dB) 50Hz - 40kHz
  • Recommended Amplifier Power Range 10 - 125 Watts
  • Power Handling, Peak 240 Watts
  • Sensitivity (2.83V/1m) 87dB
  • Nominal Impedance 8 Ohms
  • Crossover Frequencies 2400Hz -
  • 18dB/Octave (LF driver);
  • 24dB/Octave (HF driver)
  • High-Frequency Transducer 1" (25mm) Soft-dome in proprietary EOS waveguide, shielded
  • Low-Frequency Transducer 5" (130mm) PolyPlas, shielded
  • Terminals 5-Way binding posts
  • Dimensions (H x W x D) 10" x 6-5/8" x 8"
  • (259mm x 164mm x 202mm)
  • Weight per Speaker 6.6 lb (3.0kg)

Basically, I'm curious to know people's experience/thoughts with these speakers. I'll be using them with a T-amp (Dayton DTA-1) for my computer speakers.

nkx1 -- I know it's a big thread, but have you checked the "Official JBL Owner's Thread" ( http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=866797 )? I seem to remember a discussion of JBL Monitors in that thread (about 2/3 of the way through).

The easiest way to do that is to use the "Download This Thread" function under the "Thread Tools" tab. That will save the whole thread to your computer as a text file. You can then use "Wordpad" or your word processor to search for "monitor speakers". I find that technique is easier than trying to use the online AVS search.

AFIK, those are pretty good speakers. The refurbished models are still up to factory specs, and you got a good deal.

PS -- I'm using a pair of 40 year old JBL L96's (for my main R/L speakers in my surround sound system) that I had professionally re-coned (by an authorized JBL repair center). They still sound great.

Thanks for the reply CT. I searched that thread previously, but didn't find any details regarding the control monitors (I tried the download method as well). Oh well, in case there are no additional replies, I should be finding out for sure in about four days!
