That guy does make interesting videos. You should check out his other speaker video.

Yeah that's their weakness, they fall apart at high volume. They get in to distortion too quickly, thus the fatigue.I have heard quite a few different full range TL speakers, including a similar (if not the exact) speaker utilizing the Fostex drivers. My dad and I built a dual opposed quarter wave transmission line set using Audio Nirvana drivers, and while they sounded good, my personal opinion is if you like listening to music loud, full range TL designs are not for you. A few years later, my dad built a set of concentric open baffle 15 inch Silver Iris speakers with a supplementary 18 inch pro subwoofer. The difference in sound quality is amazing. The full range was nice, but fatiguing at high volumes, whereas the Silver Iris + Subwoofer combo plays quite loud without the associated fatigue during long listening sessions. My dad primarily listens to vinyl, and the vinyl warmth (distortion) could not even overcome the fatigue of the TL towers. The Fostex are much the same - low to medium volumes they are nice, but turning it up results in a fairly significant loss of low end and increase in ear fatigue. They just don't have a big enough Sd to play those lower notes at higher volumes, even with the backwave reinforcement of the TL design. Just my opinion, but I would never rate them 2nd best in any 'audiophile' category. Even supplemented with a subwoofer I feel they would be hard to listen to at high volumes without eventually suffering listening fatigue.
I've not seen those before, what a wild design! Makes a lot of sense though, basically taking the directionality out of a driver. Very cool design. If I had to choose a #1 speaker of all time, it would have to be the venerable MBL Radialstrahlers. Incredible soundstage at any listening point in the room, and given enough power to drive them, they get insanely loud without so much as a hint of distortion. But you can't really build them at home, and this is the DIY forum after all...
If I had $120k to burn, a Radialstrahler setup would be my ultimate listening experience.
What do these have anything to do with the topic? I have built SLAs and more on topic the TLAH, I like them but they are much better with better drivers.almost nobody has posted about these as a build and/or how it all worked out

hmm... no highs and no lows... transmission line design...Rolled off highs, rolled off lows.
