Hello,

Just wondering if anyone in the Chicago area has received the dual-tuner HD DVR yet from Comcast?? I just called and spoke to a clueless rep who had no idea...

I have the single-tuner unit and would really like to upgrade asap.

Thanks,

PJ

It is possible that Comcast is test marketing the 6412 somewhere in the US (though I haven't read about it anywhere), but everything I keep seeing is Q1 2005 at the earliest. Hurry up and wait...should be thier new slogan.

Don't worry about getting the moto 6412. Those of us who have it (Cox OC) have found it to be full of bugs. Cox and Moto are working hard to resolve the issues, but many of us are doubting if it will ever work.

Comcast won't be using the software that Cox is using. Cox uses Pioneer Passport and Comcast will be using iGuide (and the MS software in a few areas).

Most Comcast areas aren't expected to see the 6412 until 1Q 2005.

6412's are shipping now to Comcast sites that have already rolled out the 6208. Awaiting final IGuide minor changes to finish to be loaded on the boxes. Comcast systems will roll these out in November and probably in the early part of the month in most areas.

goirish is correct, once iGuide is ready(very soon) the 6412's will be available to Comcast customers. the Cox 6412 nightmare is a result of the IPG they're using and not the hardware. the iGuide software and Moto hardware/firmware get along just fine, can't say the same for Passport.

Are the cable companies charging more for the dual tuners?

Dumb question, huh?

I know Comcast has said they'll be the same price, (although they're more expensive to the company than the single tuner version).
