Anyone in Chicago up for some Pizza and Beer??

784 Views 14 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  ConradC
Hi everyone. Like the title says, I'd like to offer some nice fresh cold Beer and Hot pizza as well as trade secrets to anyone in Chicago that would be willing to show me how to set up FFD show filters, etc, to see if I can improve the DVD quality going to my G70 from my HTPC.

Currently, I'm using PowerDVD 6 on my 6800GT and am pretty pleased with the results, but if it can be better, I would like to see it first hand.

If you have Theatretek, that would be a big plus as I've never seen this proggy in action and have heard good and bad things about it.

So, if you have the time to give and your in the Chicago area, please feel free to PM me.....

Just an old fashioned *BUMP*
What questions do you have? I don't use FFDShow, but someone else here might have the answers for you.

Why?
Well at the time slightly cpu intensive..Actually upgraded to relieve that but also just felt it wasn't necessary. It also seemed to make EE stand out more...I probably was using wrong filters, since I believe theres better ones now.But just haven't felt the need to try it out again.

If you're headed downtown may I highly recommend what I call the "Screen Door Bar" a.k.a. Rossi's on 412 N. State. Frozen pizza and $2 pints of Old Style. Salt of the Earth, and a fine place to talk HTPCs.
Hey, i'm in the chicago area NW suburb, i have a pretty good deal of experience with HTPCs, currently running a Barco graphics 808s with TheaterTek and FFDShow with (what looks like to me at least) a really good picture. Let me know if you have any questions that i can help out with.
I am in the Chicagoland area as well.... Unfortunately, I can't get FFDshow with zoomplayer to work on my setup right now and am not sure why. I can get Zoomplayer to work well with the Nvidia decoders, so I am pretty excited about that. Unfortunately TS streams seem to studder in Zoom Player for me, but not on the freeware TS stream player. I am pretty knowledgeable about computers as well and would love to come over to any of your guys' home theater setup and help to work out any bugs in your setup as well as my own HTPC... More guys looking at the same problem can at least commiserate together over a beer!

PM me if you want to about getting together. Its great to know that there are other people out there as obsessed about home theater as I am even if I have somewhat of a modest Home Theater Budget using an Infocus X1 projector with a Panamorph lens. Picture looks great!

And then there are others of us who lived in Chicago years ago (last 1979) but are still obsessed with pizza. We used to be able to buy Leonardo's (your loc triggered me edward) when we lived in MN, but now that we're in TX the only thing we can find is Uno's--but Uno's frozen pizzas are wonderful! Man, thinking about Malnati's still brings a tear to my eye! :D
It is hard to find good pizza out of Chicago sometimes, especially when we are on vacation.

Lou Malnati's deep dish pizza is to die for! You are making me hungry.....

If you are stuck with Uno's pizza in Texas, then I truly sympathize with you.... At least you guys have some really big Steaks out there!
My son's Cub Scout troop just did a tour of Naperville's Lou Malnati's pizza place and he got to make his own Deep Dish Pizza. I was seriously thinking about taking a vacation day to be there and do the same thing.
You should go to Chez Quis. Just tell them you're Abe Froman, Sausage King of Chicago.
There is a group of us in the Chicago/Suburbs that get together once in awhile. Sometimes we bring our HTPCs along to see what eachother has done.
