Anyone in NJ have an X1,Z1,200/300u?

Perhaps a strange request.. I've been reading everyone comparing all the popular models with pros and cons in each area, but I have to admit that I have no source of reference. I cannot find a single retailer that has ANY of these models setup for demo.

Would anyone care to show me their 200/300u, Z1 or even an X1? I'm in central NJ. I realize it would be odd to let a stranger in the house, but whatever you would need to be assured i'm not a burglar casing the place, just ask for it.

Thanks for your consideration.

I am also in the same situation and live in NJ. I'm in the flemington area, but willing to travel to see a real demo. If anyone is willing, I'll supply the beer.

Thanks

I have a PT-L300U and live in Long Branch (the shore near GSP exit 105).

I don't think I'd mind showing my projector. Might be good to make nearby contacts in case of trouble with my PJ.
I'm up in Piscataway which is only about 35 minutes north of Long Branch. Like I said, whatever you need to feel safe, I'll provide it. I would love to see your 300u in action because that's the one I have my eye on in particular. What kind of screen are you using and what kind of sources do you have? If you wouldn't mind, contact me offline at [email protected] or use mustang100 on yahoo messenger and let's set it up. If beer is your thing, pizza, whatever.. I might even donate a couple DVDs that I was going to sell. :)

I'm in Monmouth County also, and could bring my ae100 to do a side by side. After 20 plus months, I've been itching for an upgrade.

I have the 300U and I'm in Pompton Lakes, north Jersey. I don't have a screen yet though, so my set up is not optimal. Just projecting a 9 foot image onto an off-white wall. It's surprisingly watchable, except for bright scenes, during which reflected light washes the image out. Still, if you guys want to check it out...

I have a HD13 (PLV60) if anyone wants to take a looksee.

I'm in whitehouse station (near flemington).

I'm projecting my ae100 to a DIY Da-lite HCCV screen that is 45 X 80, sitting about 2X screen width away. Watch at night only, mostly DVD, some Dish and Cablevision, non-HDTV material, via a Viewsonic NV-5 scaler, via VGA. For DVD, it's connected to a panny RV56 player.

I'm in North Jersey myself, but travelling down to the Long Branch area is easy for me. I've briefly owned an NEC VT460 and Epson 73c (exchanged the former, sold the latter), and am interested in checking out a more "standard" HT projector now.

Though I don't have a projector to bring along for a "shootout", I do have an Iscan Pro deinterlacer that may be worth looking at. It noticeably improved the image quality of the two projectors I've owned, over their internal deinterlacers.

Perhaps someone should consider starting a mailing list for NJ porjector enthusiasts? Perhaps on Yahoo Groups?

If so, my email address is my AVS Forum username @pobox.com.
tjstrano,

great idea about a mailing list.

I've just put my DVDs here:

too bad that there is no such site for Lasers.

I plan on buying 3 from BestBuy and returning the ones I don't want...Just asked at BB and there's no restocking fee. So try them for a week or 2 and return.
tomgarz,

I know BB carries Infocus and Viewsonic. What other brands?

lenny
They also carry Epson and one other one I can't think of right now. They finally have a decent display of projectors rather than stuck in a corner. At least at the one here (MI.). Wonder how long before they relize that they could sell a ton of projectors if they had a display room to show them off.
