Haven't heard of it, but it likely involves the equalization circuit used at the HDMI TV input to compensate for high frequency losses in the cable. I imagine if it's over-equalized, it could cause errors in the received signal, of the type it's designed to prevent.

Anyone know about over equalization problems?
Anybody know of TVs which have over-equalization problems and if so what's causing the problem? I've heard it's been seen on some Sony Tvs (is it the HDMI switch or receiver equalizer)? I wanted to buy a Sony TV and this doesn't sound good ...
