Anyone outputting HDMI to DVI into their Pioneer 503 w. Aurora A303? not working?

This could turn out to be a major defect with this Aurora expansion card I have to give me an HDCP compatible socket into this plasma. My dvi outputs from all players work just fine.

But with an HDMI to DVI cable from monster and a hdmi adapter on another dvi cable all fail on less than FOUR dvd players. The players flash like there is no handshaking.

The same dvi cable works just fine on all my other players.

I was under the impression HDMI to DVI and DVI to HDMI worked for the video at least.
