Just need a simple (FREE!) MPEG splitter for some movies that are too large for one disk. TMPG will do it, but it keeps wanting to reencode the darn thing. All I want is a split :)

I assuming you are talking about MPEG-2 (the format ReplaYTV uses), not MPEG-1? You can try MPEG2Schnitt . It does require you to demux the file before editing it, however. For various reasons (including MPEG-2 licensing fee issues), there really aren't any great freeware MPEG-2 editing programs out there.

When I split with Tmpgenc I believe it is just rewriting the header. You must not be using the Tmpgenc tools Merge and Cut. Also I thought there are other tools such as bbmpeg and such for cutting or splitting mpeg2. Since I don't use those I am not sure. You may have to search the forum since I think there are other threads on mpeg2 cutters or splitters.

If you have the Elecard player installed you can "Trim" an MPEG anywhere you want with it and save that trimmed portion to a new file.
