I am at a loss here and I've exhausted every 800 number, email address, and google search possible to get a straight answer, so I'll pose this to the forum. Has anyone on the forum purchased a Mitsubishi projector using his or her 3 Diamond Card?

I was excited to find a good deal on a HC5500 from 6ave and even more excited when they told me they accepted the 3 Diamond Card. So, I added a coupon from their own website to sweeten my purchase and placed my order over the phone on Friday sans probleme.

Today I received a call that my order had been canceled, as Mitsubishi apparently told 6ave that the 3 Diamond Card could only be used on certain LCD and DLP tvs. So I called Mitsubishi directly to ask which products I could and couldn't purchase with their card. They said they'd never heard of the policy I was handed and that the 3 Diamond Card was valid for all Mitsubishi consumer electronics at any merchant who accepts the card. But they encouraged me to call HSBC, the issuer and backer of the 3 Diamond Card, to get their take on it. HSBC also said they were also unaware of any such restriction (moreover they added that they really don't care what I buy in general as long as I make payments on time). But they encouraged me to call MDEA back to verify again, which I did. And they encouraged me to call their "projector department", which I did, to see if they knew of any restrictions. The "projector department" (who ended up being Mitsubishi Home Theater) echoed everything I'd heard from all the other Mitsubishi/HSBC people. Sigh.

After all that, I have a sneaky suspicion that 6ave canceled my order because they didn't want to honor the coupon code I applied (which knocked off a significant chunk of the price tag). I'd gladly purchase elsewhere at this point, but Mitsubishi's various websites' dealer locators are all collectively just plain awful and after spending another couple of hours trying various zips around the lower 48 in the search fields to find another dealer for either the HC5500, HC6000, or HC6500, I've about decided that no one anywhere sells Mitsubishi projectors at all now, nor does anyone except HH Gregg and 6Ave accept the 3 Diamond Card (but only on alternating Tuesdays and for models beginning with vowels and ending in prime numbers). Of course, that's not at all true, but the dealer locator on all the Mits sits are severely outdated and, well, broken most of the time.

So dear forum, has anyone here ever been able to use his or her 3 Diamond Card to purchase a Mitsubishi projector? I feel like I'm getting the run-around, especially given how all I want to do is add a nice projector to my theater and pay some nice responsible dealer to sell it to me.

Argh.

Nathan, I don't have a 3 Diamond Card, but I have been searching for an HC6500 at a good price. Unfortunately, all of the lowest prices that come up, come with problems. Most, if not all, of the small online retailers who are east coast based seem to operate in a similar fashion: The use a very low advertised price to pull in orders, then, when you place an order, they email you, telling you to call them for confirmation, and when you call, they try to sell you accessories and warranties. If you don't buy upgrades, your order gets canceled. Look at the resellerratings.com feedback for 6ave, ibuydigital, elitecamcorders, photoloon, primocameras, etc., and it seems they all work the same method. My point is, they'll tell you anything to get out of honoring the prices they advertise. Bait and switch. I'd be glad to hear otherwise from anyone with a positive experience with one of these e-tailers.

not a big fan of retail services because they will try and sneak in an account protection fee if you aren't careful....they did on me and I didn't catch it until several payment into the account. That fee was 33 dollars a month and I could not get back several payments....I think it was in the contract that I didn't read close enough. Anyway I will not be using these people any longer because of this and I'm done with mitsubishi anyway....I think there are better products at better prices out there now
