Can anyone explain how to set the contrast with this disc? It has a series of vertical boxes in shades of white to gray. The narrator talks about "blooming", but I don't understand the instructions. Do I set it to where the top 2 boxes blend into 1? I have an X1 projector and am using 2 different inputs for my DVD player and HD satellite. Do I need to calibrate both inputs separately? Thanks for any advice.

You'd probably won't see any "blooming" on your X1.


To set your contrast with your X1, adjust your contrast until you can see 2 moving white bars on the bottom of the screen. Then re-adjust till 1 of the 2 moving bars just merge into the white background. Contrast is set!

Thanks, but the test you're describing with the 2 bars moving side to side is for brightness. The narrator says to set contrast FIRST, then do brightness. That's my problem, I can't seem to set contrast with this disc, it does not change when I go up or down with contrast. I don't see any "blooming". Any suggestions? Thanks.
