As cheap, common, and large (10 inch) as these have become I was wondering if anyone is using them in their HT? I don't mean to put on a desk and show photos of your family, I mean in a cinematic capacity. With the capability to put thousands of movie stills on a memory card and place it in one of these frames it seems like an ideal device for our purposes.

Can anyone share unique ways they have put digital picture frames to use?

I remember a couple- gnolivos and greighn - using digital frames or small flat screens but no one has really shown anything yet. On a larger scale I was at my new Cinemark and they've replaced their food menus from a billboard to a flat screen. Very cool but bordering on just wasteful imo.

I built a mini drive in and I'm considering showing trailers and a q&a from the coke slides prior to showtime.

That's a really interesting idea.

I've been kicking around working a digital frame into a variation on the marquee/lightbox design that volley came up with back in this thread:

I'm thinking an 8" mounted vertically running movie posters (or cover images from dvdprofiler) for all the dvd's and blu-rays we own. Probably flanked by a 3.5" frame on each side with one running through the equipment signs found here:

and the other running something else... haven't come up with anything, but the coke slides would be good idea or maybe some movie trailers, or stills, or "Let's all go to the lobby" or snack bar info. Yeah, still working on it.

Everytime I see cheap frames, I get the itch to get started on it, but until our remodelling gets done I don't have a good workshop or even a good desk to do the photoshoping. Soon... very soon.
