I'm using an older 815 chipset with a pentium 3 1.0 on an intel microatx board. Works excellent. I'm also using one of the ATC cases. They could have made the cases about 1-2" shorter (front to back) so it fits better on standard shelves, it is about 2" longer than my Integra 7.3!
I am using the Intel D865GLCLK with a P4 2.4C in a ATC620. I'm happy with it, but I don't care about overclocking. It has support for P4 with FSB 400/533/800, DDR SDRAM up to 400MHz, and it has AC97 sound and 10/100/1000 network (on CSA channel) built in.
mATX MB by Gigabyte 8GIMK based on 845G Intel P4 support 533 but not HT(?), DDR333 AC97 spdif out by realtec ALC650 working fine, on board lan three PCI 1AGP*4 available! The problem with mATX cases is that many accept only mATX power supply which means max 230W!!! My HTPC runs happily with a 200W power supply: ATI AIW 8500DV Technotrend Sat pci CARD+2 LNBs powered on the roof, P4 1.7, 512Mb, Maxtor 60Gb....
