Anyone write a Denon setup procedure

Denon's manuals are, well, unbelievably useless. Has anyone explained the setup procedure for a Denon AVR receiver? I have an AVR-687, but I would be happy to read a setup procedure, that has some explanation to it, for any of the Denon receivers. Even a well written setup procedure for another receiver would be better than the one from Denon. I am looking for one that explains what each prompt is trying to say and what it accomplishes. What I am looking for is how to setup things like how to set the power-on volume, the auto setup with mic, etc, etc.
