AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
I would (and did) go with the Opteron 165, it overclocks better than the 4400+, does so at low Vcore and is a better core (i.e. same as FX series). In the end (assuming you're willing to OC) it will perform just as well or better and save you $130. If you have the cash and eager to spend it though it will do just fine.

I also went with the DFI lanparty board as it has more OC'ing tools.

I went with DDR 500 (GSkill 2 x 1GB) , for what you're paying might as well. It gives you extra room when using dividers. Again, assuming you're going to be OC'ing.
Are you saying your going to put this in a coffee table???? Put in an oven rack too! U'll have an Athlon easy bake! That is unless you add some fans to the table! Seriously it will get roasting unless you add a few. I have a friend wif one of those desk that have a CPU compartment. His HDD's are hitting 50c. I told him they are gonna die, but he won't get a better case or cut up that desk. (Speedfan shows my raptor at 27C)

Sweet rig. Throw in a 1900 XT and it would game awesome!

Think about getting a Fanbus controller, really lets u finetune ur cooling needs. Plus that way you don't have to buy more expensive fans. I bought a cheapie (vantec 3.5) that adjust voltage from 7 to 12 volt, and it has helped tremendously. I crank it for gaming and leave low the rest of the time and temps are great. Processor's @ 38C and that's OCd 450mhz.

I might get a Liberty PSU a higher wattage will serve you well if you upgrade to a graphics monster in the future, and from the looks of it u like power! They also have a 120mm fan and modular cabling.

I have heard and read about people very happy wif their opterons. I would get one now but since I already have an A64 don't think it would have a big impact on my performance at least cost/performance wise.

I love raptors for system drives. I'm thinking of getting the 74gb the 36 gb holds only a few games and I like to run them from the raptor. RaptorX ....drool....

looks to me the MVP seens to be pretty OCable

i guess you are right i should go with the DDR500 Gskill memory

I will only have the Raptor X in the case - the other 2 drives are in a dual hotswap bay (hot that thing will have some fans built in cost alone 400 bucks!!!!) all that will be built into a coffee table where i will hide the AE-900U and the Denon AVR3806
yeah, that might OC a lil.

Check out Patriot Memory (PDP) they make great memory too!
