I'm using the optical cable with my ps3. When playing games, it goes into PCM mode.....I thought you can only use PCM with HDMI?



my reciever is the 5970 yamaha

You must use HDMI on the PS3 for multichannel PCM. You are only listening to two-channel PCM with your setup.
