OK...as I just went from an HP MSS WHS solution to DIY unRAID box, I realize I also lost my media-server for PS3 (I used the built-in PVConnect in the MSS/WHS). I know the usual suspects; ps3mediaserver, twonky, tversity. However, I need/want to install Apache HTTP server for PCH streaming...so I was wondering: can Apache serve PS3? If so, can anyone point me to some set-up?

Thanks,

Not sure about Apache, but there is a IIS http/upnp server available on the Networkmediatank forums. It is free.

Was it maybe this ?

OK, maybe I worded this wrong: I'm looking for one media server than can serve both http to PCH, and UPnP to PS3. Exist? Suggestions? I can't be the only one who has both these devices, and would like to serve both with one package?

no such thing exists....

use SMB for the PCH A-110 and I recommend PS3 media server for the PS3 (which is known to work with unraid).

I have not found any issues with SMB and over 100 BD rips I have on my server. There certainly could be issues but I have not seen them...

you'll have better luck with all this over on the unraid forums....

Did you get SlimServer running on the unraid?

EDIT: Further research indicates tverisity should do what you ask. How to configure it. I dont know.....

FURTHER EDIT: I can't find anyone claiming to have Tversity running on the unraid.

stick to apache for HTTP is you really want it (which I dont think you need it) and PS3 Media Server or Twonky for UPNP (both of which are known to work with unraid)

good luck....

LOL...I just posted about this over in the Revo thread. I...and others in the HT forum...have occasionally had bitrates that stalled the PCH over SMB. I don't run any of my servers on the "storage" box; I have my BD drive on a box dedicated to just ripping and running the servers. So SS, ps3ms, TVersity, whatever...can just run on that, and I point it at the unRAID shares.

You think TVersity will serve HTTP and UPnP? Hmm, I'll have to look futher. I've tried ps3ms, and Twonky, but never TVersity.

Thanks for making the rounds with me tonight.

My unraid box read performance is amazing. If there are SMB performance issues its with the PCH A-110. Which videos are causing problems? maybe I can try them here...

anyway, if you want http. apache works with unraid and will eliminate any doubt....

I have read about these SMB performance issues with the PCH I just have never experienced any.... or maybe I have...

I do generally see 1-2 slight glitches per 2 hour BD rip movie...

clearly your options on UPNP servers are open if you plan on running them on windows versus on the unraid box. I prefer to have all this run on the unraid box. Its cpu is sitting IDLE most of the time. might as well put it to work....

Yeah, I know the issues are typically with how PCH handles SMB...as opposed to SMB rates themselves. The Wrestler consistently gave me fits (in sections).
