I am planning to cancel my dish subscription because all I ever watch now are the local HD channels. This raises two questions:
1. Can I still watch the OTA channels when I don't subscribe to anything?
2. If so, can I disconnect the sat signal and still watch OTA channels?
Has anyone tried this before?
I called DISH, asked for an advanced tech support person, and got someone who a) told me that what I've been watching is not really HDTV, and b) I can just plug my antenna into my TV and get the same HDTV channels. When I informed her that my "TV" only has a VGA input, she said "Oh. then you can't watch your local channels without a subscription".
Somehow, I don't trust her answer.
