Hi.

I've been forced to use 9 meter cables to my front speakers since

I wanted to keep the video path as short as possible. So my amp and HTPC

is in the back of the room, right behind the Barco. I'm not very much

into audio(except for some music), so I would like some opinions about

my setup. I did buy some nice Tara Labs cables, but what do you think:

is 9 meters too long?

Are there any other way that would be better?

Thanks,

Nicholas

Good question. I just bought them:)

It says Prism Nexa on the cable...with the really cool one-way arrows:)

Hope this enough information.

Actually it is gage and power that need to match. For 28' or so you could run 300wpc on 16 gage wire in theory. As long as you are 14 gage or better (which that wire is I believe) you'll be fine.

Thanks,

Should I turn up the dB or something? I'm still curious as to how much

signal loss there is comparing to, say, 3meters.

Loss is dependent on the gauge of the wire (along with a lot of other factors dealing with transmission line theory). 14 or 12 gauge wire will send the signal with minimal loss.

At that length, you would have to use some pretty sophisticated equipment to discern a loss if you are using decent quality, well shielded 12 AWG speaker wire. Human ears could not tell the difference between 3 meter or 9 meter lengths of decent guage/shielded wire.

And no, they do not need to be the same length either.

Just take care to make sure it isn't run along-side power cords for that 9 meters, or you will likely notice some degradation.

Hope that helps,
