Even empty, it'd probably cost more to ship than the case is worth. They sell on ebay all the time... $10-$50... again, the shipping kills you, so best for local buyers.
The nice rental ones have scissor lifts in them and double as a floor mount stand.
I'd recommend hanging onto it if you plan on selling your 1272. It'll be easier, cheaper, and safer than having to build a crate. It could be a nice selling point to relieve the bidder's anxiety about damage in transit.
