I recently made an executive decision to resist the urge to blow my wallet on one of the 1080p/120mhz Sony or Samsung LCDs that are coming out this summer. Instead, being that this is my first HDTV, I think at 40" I'll be more than satisfied with 720p and keep the extra cash for a PS3. Anyhow...I have two questions:

1. Are there any 720p sets with 120mhz?

2. Is 120mhz as "necessary" for a 720p set as it is for the 1080p sets?

Thanks guys!

My only comment is that lower resolution displays are made because they cost less (more dots cost more money). 120Hz is also going to cost money. It does not make sense to add more costs to the "value line" models (720P). Could they??? Sure, but will they??? It does not make sense to me.

these are showing up at Costcos lately. the display is OK.....the demo is very convincing of the 120Hz...but the rest of the TV is not so impressive. The remote sucks....the menus are terrible. The menus might make it a deal breaker on just them.

It is basically a 40S3000 (1366x768) with 120Hz.

That would be my perfect set right now, everything I need to hold over for a few years until all this new technology is dirt cheap.

I do not agree with others that says LCD technology will always be jumping...in 2 or 3 years we should be at stable point IMO

Is there anything stopping one from ordering this Canadian TV and using it in the US....it should plug right in right? Looks like it may be missing the QAM....but it should pick up everything else. Am I missing something?
