Does anyone know about ascend 340's speakers if there any good? Also what the difference between the 340's main and Center? They seem like they have a pretty good price...Anyone heard them/have them?

Lots of people have them.....lots of people think they are good...

The difference between the center and main version is the orientation of the tweeter, and a change in the crossover.

There is a lot of information on Ascend's website. Where is "Sb"? You might be able to find someone in your area for an audition. Head over to http://forum.ascendacoustics.com and ask.

Curtis,

Can you say more about the change in the crossover? I've got my center suspended on clear wires about 1 inch above my television, with the front of the speaker flush with the front of the TV. Sometimes I imagine that I can hear a tonal difference when a voice pans from the center to a left or right speaker and I wonder if that's due to the crossover. I recall that the intent of the crossover is to compensate for reflections caused by putting the center on top of a television or shelf, but since my speaker is suspended, I wonder if the effect is to mismatch the center to my left/right. Can you comment?

That being said, I LOVE the speakers and have no complaints. I'm just curious about the center.

Thanks.

hey Loraan....you have it exactly right. Have not seen you post at the new forum.

Since your center is only one inch above the TV...your TV still acts like an extended baffle...which is what the change in the crossover is suppose to compensate for.

You might want to double check your calibration. It could even be the distance to the back wall/reflections in the room. I am lucky enough that my front stage is very seamless.
i have the 340's little brother, the 170. awesome speaker.
