You should order both pairs so you can listen and and find out what your ears would like best and return the pair you least like. Since aperion has free shipping both ways it wont cost you anything for the audition if you dont like them, and the ascend should not cost much for shipping to return them if you dont like them. The Aperions have much lower sensitivity, so if you like to really crank it, go with the Ascends. If you are using a subwoofer, the Aperion 5B or Ascend CBM might be the best buy there, but if you are not using a subwoofer, go with the Aperion 6B, it has great low frequency extension for a bookshelf speaker, so it ought to have the best bass. I wouldn't get the Aperion 4B, those will have no bass capability whatsoever.
