Has anyone sucessfully gotten asio output to work in JRiver Media Ceter & a Prodigy 7.1? I have tried everything I can think of and I get error

" There was an error starting playback. Make sure your system has a valid sound playback device and it is properly configured in playback options. (Double check the output mode, output device & output bitdepth)"

Asio output seems to work fine in Winamp as I verified with a dts file. I also checked on JRiver's forum and AudioTrak's forum and noticed a couple of posts from folks with the same issue but no fix or verification was posted. I can usually figure these things out after some research and searching but this one has me stumped. Thanx for any help.

I couldn't get ASIO to work with J River Media Center until I installed Wuschel's ASIO4ALL.

ASIO4ALL Version 1.8 available at http://michael.tippach.bei.t-online.de/asio4all/ .

ASIO4ALL Control Panel > Audio Device: Prodigy 7.1; other settings default.

J. River Media Center

Tools > Options > Playback > Ouput Mode: ASIO; Settings > Wuschel's ASIO4ALL; Channel Offset: 0

I have been looking for the same answer both here and abroad to no avail. I posted on "Interact" and got this response. They don't seem to have a working knowledge of the Prodigy internally....too bad, it's a great card. There is some information in the Kernel streaming FAQ for the Revo regarding the setup of ASIO in JRMC here and this says ASIO4ALL is "Just" kernel streaming - but I can't get it to work with J.River Media Center consistantly. ASIO 2.0 that comes with the Prodigy doesn't work with anything except Foobar 2000 so far.

I did get Winamp with a plugin to output asio but I would rather be using MC. I like MC's file management and tagging better. My tags (ape format) don't display correctly in Winamp. I really haven't tried to fix the tags in Winamp yet and would rather not have to retag all the files. Also, I am using MC10 latest version.

J. River Media Center version 10.0.147 fixes my ASIO problems as well. ASIO is now working with ST Audio DSP24 Value ASIO driver (channel offset = 8). No more clicks or bursts of music when skipping to another song while audio is playing.

Shawn,

Go to Signal's link he posted.

I just tried the latest Media Center, I have never used it before, I was suppressed that AISO does it not only work with my Digi 96/8 PAD, it will play through the SPDIF out. Every other ASIO play back software I have used including Foobar and the Wavelab 5 demo all play through my analog outs but not through SPDIF, Media Center does both. I left channel offset to 0 and had to set buffer 1.00 and no skips or burps and produces the best CD playback sound I have ever heard come out of a computer.
