Just had DishHD installed, and I'm not filling the whole screen. I don't understand. I thought the TV was supposed to upconvert to resident resolution of the TV?

Unless it is HD you will need to put in in some sort of stretch mode to fill the screen.

If I read your quoted sentence correctly, you're stating the problem is with your TV, not the E* receiver, since your question deals with the TV upconverting. I think you probably mean the receiver upconverting, not the TV. There's a setting under something like "installation"/"setup" on the Menu that gives you the option to set the output of the E* receiver. You should try setting it to "16x9". I suspect it might be set on "4x3 #1" or "4x3 #2".
