I watched the DVD "Dazed And Confused" last night on my Mitsubishi WS-48311 16:9 RPTV. The Xbox was set to "Widescreen." The DVD is labled as a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. However, the movie showed up squashed ... as if it was distorted to fit in a 16:9 window. For example, the globe that shows up as the movie starts was not round ... it was a wide oval. I know there are minor differences between 16:9 and 1.85:1 that could cause minor top/bottom bars, but those are usually hidden on my RPTV due to ~5% overscan. The only way I could watch the movie undistorted and in it's original aspect ratio was to use my TV in "expand" mode, but that should reduce picture quality. Is the aspect ratio of this movie mis-labled? What is the best way for me to view this 16:9 movie on a 16:9 screen without making adjustments?

According to IMDB, Dazed and Confused is "Letterboxed." That means it is NOT anamorphic. You should use a zoom mode to watch it on your 16x9 TV.
