Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forums, so please forgive me if I'm posting in an inappropriate area for my question.
I'm about the make the splurge to go from a cheap and crappy SD TV to an HDTV. Gonna make the purchase in a couple of weeks, and while I've done tons of research I'm still nervous about spending a large sum (for me) and then regretting my choice. So I was hoping I could submit my needs and situation up to the collective wisdom of the board and get some advice...
First: The wall to wall distance between the wall on which the primary seating is and the wall where the TV will go is about 15 feet. The room gets very dark...there is a single, eastern exposure window on the wall where the TV will go. Finally, it's a rental, so I don't want to do a bunch of mounting, which seems to mean front projection is out, unfortunately.
Second: Usage. I don't game, and I may not even bother hooking cable up to the TV. The TV is for one thing and one thing only: movies. I'll be hooking up an Oppo BDP-83 as my primary video source.
Third: The upper end of my budget is $2,500 so there are definitely limitations to what I can get.
I've been looking primarily at the Panasonic V10 50" and the Mitsubishi 737 73" -- the trade-off is obvious, there. I love the idea of a huge picture, but I can be very picky about video quality and the panny's picture sounds like it would make me happy...
So can you guys make any suggestions? What would you buy in my position?
Thanks!!!
